Netflix won its first major television Bafta as Vanessa Kirby was honoured for her role as Princess Margaret in The Crown. The new mum, who plays nurse Trixie in the BBC drama, gave birth to her first child with co-star Jack Ashton in September, 2017.

Peaky Blinders won for drama series.

Other winners included The Handmaid's Tale winning the award for best global series, This Country winning Scripted Comedy, Daisy May Cooper winning Female Performance in a Comedy Program for This Country and Toby Jones winning Male Performance in a Comedy Program for Detectorists, among others.

Acclaimed voice actor Nolan North is set to receive a special BAFTA award next month in recognition for his "outstanding contribution" to performance in video games, the organization has announced.
