Robinson Cano goes down in huge Mariners blow

Nicholas Castellanos is out of the starting lineup for the Detroit Tigers for Sunday's game against Seattle after he injured a finger on his left hand Saturday.

"I see a specialist on Tuesday morning".

Cano was batting in the top of the third inning when a pitch from Detroit left-hander Blaine Hardy sailed inside and hit him near the hand.

After a brief examination by the Seattle trainer, Cano left the game and was replaced by infielder Andrew Romine.

The Mariners won 9-5, after losing 4-3 in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Mariners announced later Sunday that Cano has a fractured fifth metacarpal.

Our models project Castellanos to hit.280 with 19 home runs, 56 runs, 65 RBI, and 2 stolen bases in 453 more plate appearances in 2018.

He batted.280 with 23 home runs and 97 RBIs in 2017. He hasn't missed a game this season and hasn't played in fewer than 150 games in any of the past 11 seasons.
