The dizzying fall of New York's attorney general

Normally, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance would have led the investigation into crimes alleged to have occured in Manhattan, but Cuomo pulled Vance off the case, fearing a conflict of interest because the attorney general's office has an open investigation into Vance's office for its handling of sexual assault allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. "I did not consent to physical assault".

Andrew Cuomo's (KWOH'-mohz) legal counsel has written a scathing response to criticism by the Manhattan district attorney's office for taking away the abuse investigation into the former attorney general.

Mr Schneiderman became attorney general in 2010 and had meant to run for re-election to the post this year.

In March 2010, Schneiderman - still a NY state senator - served as the lead sponsor for legislation that made "intentional strangulation and suffocation into unconsciousness a violent felony".

Tanya Selvaratnam: Says Mr Schneiderman warned her he could have her followed and phone-tapped and said he would kill her if she broke up with him, all of which he denies. "Our office has never been stronger, and this extraordinarily talented, dedicated, and tireless team of public servants will ensure that our work continues without interruption", Underwood said in a statement after Schneiderman's resignation.

According to Mayer and Farrow's reporting, at a 2016 party, Schneiderman was drinking heavily, and brought a woman he knew professionally to another location where, in the course of making out, Schneiderman said made remarks that "repelled" the woman, and when she resisted, he slapped her across the face. The women strongly rejected the Democratic politician's explanation that any abuse was the result of consensual, intimate "role-playing". Last month, he and more than a dozen states sued the E.P.A. for failing to properly control methane pollution, a greenhouse gas.

"For my daughter and for all women".

Giglio said some of the women's' accusations appeared to be in the "felony range" and Schneiderman could wind up facing charges. "I could not remain silent and encourage other women to be fearless for me".

"I don't think it will make much difference in how the New York. I find it impossible to believe these allegations are true".

Schneiderman, meantime, has reportedly hired top criminal defense attorney Isabelle Kirshner to defend him against sexual abuse allegations.

Cuomo called the charges "grossly disturbing", and said they would be "fully investigated".

Singas has quickly established a reputation for a smart, tough-minded approach to political corruption in Nassau County in a career that makes her especially well suited for the Schneiderman probe.

Following the resignation, Trump aide Kellyanne Conway tweeted "Gotcha". During her lengthy career, she has argued before the Supreme Court 20 times, including a key case arguing that utilities violated state tort and public nuisance laws by contributing to global warming.
