Tanker spills liquid chocolate on highway in Poland

A major highway in Poland was forced to close on Wednesday after a tanker carrying chocolate overturned and spilled all over the road. It stopped traffic in both directions.

Local police said it was unclear why the lorry hit the central reservation on highway A2 between the western towns of Wrzesnia and Slupca.

Rescue officials said the liquid chocolate was solidifying as it cooled and would require large amounts of hot water to clear away.

The driver of the truck, which was liquid chocolate, for no known reason, lost control and crashed into a fence.

In some areas, the chocolate was so thick that heavy machinery was brought in to scoop up the mess. While the driver has been taken to the hospital with a broken arm, firefighters are struggling to remove a reported 12 tons of solid chocolate from the roadway.

A firefighter attending the scene told TVN24 that chocolate is a more unsafe hazard than snow on a road.
