HTC U12 gets an official launch date

HTC has announced across its multiple social media accounts they'll be holding an event on May 23 to unveil a new smartphone. "The display will be 5.99" with an 18:9 aspect ratio and we're expecting HTC to continue using the lovely Liquid Surface design. The company is expected to launch its follow up to the HTC U11, the HTC U12 or HTC U12+.

In an email sent to the press this morning and posted on their website, HTC posted a photo of neatly laid out phone components, with the text "Coming Soon".

However, there's still not a single word on what specs the upcoming HTC device will pack.

As per the leaked specifications, the HTC U12 will sport a 6-inch Quad HD+ Super LCD display. The base variant might have 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The image also shows that HTC will already be distinguishing itself from competition by forgoing the trend of the notch in favour of the classic design.

The HTC U12+ is also expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio and an all-glass build. While battery size isn't the only consideration when figuring out how long a phone will last, it does play a large part in ensuring your phone remains charged from the time you get started with your day until it's time to go to bed.

The U12 Plus will run on Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense UI and USonic for Active Noise cancellation. From the pricing point of view, the HTC U12+ will definitely be an expensive phone and will be costlier than the HTC U12+. "A phone that is more than the sum of its specs".
