Embiid says 'pretty good chance' he's back by Game 2 or 3

After missing each of his first two National Basketball Association seasons due to injury and being limited to 31 games in 2016-17, Embiid played a career-high 63 games this season.

Game 2 in this series is on Monday night, again in Philadelphia.

This marks the 10th straight game the all-star will miss since fracturing the orbital bone near his left eye and suffering a concussion against the New York Knicks on March 28.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported that all Embiid had to do to clear concussion protocol was prove he could withstand contact.

Additionally, guard Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot will sit out the game with patellar tendinitis in his right knee.

Embiid's presence made the Sixers a better defensive team. Big man Joel Embiid could return in Game 2 or 3, but based on how the club is performing, adding him to the rotation will just enhance the experience.

Coach Brett Brown shrugged when asked if Embiid's return, or lack thereof is linked to the success the Sixers have had without them. Here are three takeaways from their Game 1 victory. He was superb as the Sixers' leader on the floor, commanding a second half surge that put Philadelphia in the driver's seat for good.

The Sixers, who set an National Basketball Association record with 16 straight wins to end the season, got the rout in full swing with a raucous crowd behind them. "And it's been determined that he shall not play Game 2 for that reason.". And I feel great.
