Around 11 p.m., Ferrell was riding in an SUV on I-5 when their auto was side-swiped by a Toyota, the TMZ reports said.

Witnesses claim the driver of the other auto caused the wreck and Ferrell's vehicle was flipped in the crash.

The actor was seen taking into the ambulance on a stretcher but was also on the phone TMZ reported.

He has since been released and a rep for the actor told TMZ he suffered no significant injuries and is doing well.

One witness said there was a woman passenger in Ferrell's vehicle who was "bleeding profusely" after the accident. Witnesses told TMZ Ferrell's vehicle was side-wiped by a second auto.

Ferrell's longtime driver, Mark Thompson, and another colleague, Carolina Barlow, remain hospitalized in stable condition.

The 50-year-old star was travelling in a large SUV before the vehicle flipped as he was travelling through Orange County, California.

A representative for Ferrell has been contacted for comment. The funnyman's manager tells Deadline the other driver lost control after falling asleep at the wheel.

Fans tweeted that they hoped Ferrell and the other passengers were well after the incident.

The crash occurred about 10:55 p.m. Thursday on northbound Interstate 5, north of La Paz Road in Mission Viejo, according to the California Highway Patrol. He appeared as his "Anchorman" character Ron Burgundy alongside Billy Eichner, who hosted the evening.
