Telugu Actress Who Stripped In Protest Won't Get Membership, Says Film Association

The actress started her protest by stripping in front of cameramen of television channels. I have been shouting from the rooftops about the injustice that has been meted out to me and to several other women in the film industry and yet, I have not got any response from MAA.

"We are not going to give her the membership card and members of MAA also will not act with her". Will she continue to pen sensational Facebook posts? "Last year, I shot for only one film (Vunnadi Okkate Zindagi). If they do, their membership will stand canceled", said Shivaji Raja.

The actress said she would make the issue bigger if film producers do not encourage local talent.

MAA is also exploring legal action against the actress. No roles were offered. It's quite different from everything that I've done so far. I don't understand why it comes as a surprise at all. For over a month, she has been garnering a lot of attention due to her serious allegations about the rampant sexual exploitation of female actors by some of the big names in the Telugu film industry.

Most of her scenes were filmed in Prague, Czech Republic and Anupama confesses that the experience was like a long holiday. "I don't know what her intention is". "I really miss the team now".

Undaunted, Sri Reddy is adamant as ever. Even they are like that (laughs). "Though I respect him in many ways, because of ego I think, he did all that to me".

Her semi-nude protest drew a lot of flak from the Telugu film industry.

Clarifying that it is not mandatory to be a member of the association to act in a film, actor Banerjee held up an application form in front of the media.

Apparently inspired by the Me Too campaign that began in Hollywood and spared across the globe, Sri Reddy vowed to expose the harassment meted out to women in the industry. "At the moment, I'm shooting for 15 days in a month for A Karunakaran's film and the rest for Trinadh Rao Nakkina's Hello Guru Prema Kosame". "Starting right from the make-up boy to the actor to the financer, everyone treats women like they're mere bodies", she added.

"But I am not thinking about my family". Each role of mine has been different from the previous ones that I've done.

Reddy's protest was to highlight "casting couch" allegations for demands made on her by certain filmmakers to send them nude photos and videos of her. "It's a process", she avers. From the beginning I have been saying this: you have to sleep, you have to sleep, you have to sleep. I do interact with quite a few people who have been honest with their feedback. "This is the only way I can get them to listen to me".
