Senator Mustapha Bukar dies at 64, Buhari, Masari mourn

Senator Bukar died in the morning of Wednesday, April 4, after a brief illness according to Daily Nigerian.

The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdul Mumuni Kabir, was represented by and Sain Katsina, Alhaji Ahmadu Nafuntuwa.

"I send heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Government of Katsina State, and his constituents, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari", Mr Ekweremadu was quoted as saying in the statement.

This was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.He also sympathised with the National Assembly on the passing away of the senator, who represented Katsina North Senatorial District. Buhari said Bukar distinguished himself as an engineer before going into politics.

Buhari prayed that Allah will bless and forgive the soul of the deceased.

"Senator Bukar was so dedicated to his responsibilities and hardworking that he got an appointment with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, where he also demonstrated the same dedication and passion for service", the President said. We shall sorely miss his vibrancy and progressive mindset.

The deceased, an engineer, was the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power.

Bukar died less than a month after Senator Malam Ali Wakili passed on at 58. He will be sorely missed.
