Meanwhile, pursuing credible leads of the presence of LeT terrorists in Kupwara, police, along with 41 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 98 Bn CRPF, on Friday launched a cordon and search operation in Juggiyal, Turshan Mohalla, Hyhama areas of the district.

Police sources said the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had abducted the youth and his father, Abdul Gafar Bhat, from Hajin on Wednesday.

25-year-old Butt and his father were kidnapped by a group of suspected militants after barging into their house in Hajin during the intervening night of April 4 and 5. But the gunmen took his son with him and subsequently murdered him.

According to police records, this is the second incident in a week's time, when militants have attacked civilians in Bandipora district's Hajin area.

His headless body was found in an orchid in Bonmohalla Hajin, the police said. The police is on the lookout for the terrorist and further investigations are being conducted in the case. Families are being targeted by terrorists after being tagged as informers of the security forces in order to spread fear in the Valley and discourage them from alerting security forces of insurgency in the Valley.

Police said local terrorist Mohommad Saleem Parrey is believed to have played a major role in the killing of the local innocent youth. Earlier, body of Naseer Ahmed Parray (37), who was abducted on Monday evening, was recovered from the outskirts of the town the next day.
