But what if your chance of having the right stuff for Nasa's astronaut corps is, to say the least, minimal? While in the station, guests can enjoy the astronaut experience during a 12-day journey, soaring 200 miles above the Earth's surface in Low Earth Orbit. Now, in the age of SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic, the idea that a private company would launch an orbiting hotel seems nearly pedestrian.

In contrast to similar packages by other companies, Orion Span's deal can be considered as relatively cheaper.

"There's been innovation around the architecture to make it more modular and more simple to use and have more automation, so we don't have to have EVAs [extravehicular activities] or spacewalks", Bunger said of Aurora Station. Orion Span has a team of space industry veterans who together have more than 140 years of human space experience.

Beyond the physical limitations to embarking, there are also the fiscal ones. It'll measure 43.5 feet long by 14.1 feet wide (13.3 by 4.3 meters) and feature a pressurised volume of 5,650 cubic feet (160 cubic m). The fully refundable deposit is $80,000 per person and can be reserved online here. Follow Orion Span on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn at @OrionSpanInc, and on Twitter at @OrionSpan.

Real estate in outer space is next frontier - at least according to investors who've poured almost $8 billion into space startups since 2015. And for the out-of-the-world experience, quite literally, one would have to spend a meagre $9.5 million (Rs 61 crore approx.), inclusive of the launching shuttle price.

Orion Span's chief architect and operating and chief technical officers are former Nasa employees.

"Orion Span has. taken what was historically a 24-month training regimen to prepare travelers to visit a space station and streamlined it to three months, at a fraction of the cost", company officials said. Bunger said the firm's designs would work with most of the current launch configurations, such as Arianespace, SpaceX, and United Launch Alliance. Everybody's forecasting that [launch prices are] going to fall... And Orion is not an outlier; many firms are starting to take advantage of the relatively lower cost of blasting off. The company's mission is to build and sustain human communities in space. We're calling that a space condo.

Activities on board include taking part in research experiments such as growing food while in orbit - which guests can take home for a super-smug souvenir - and soaring over their hometown. Last week, World View said it had raised a total of US$48.5 million. "When we reach capacity, we simply launch another of the same space station and attach it to Aurora's radial hub", Bunger added.
