Salman Khan spends another night in jail, hearing on bail plea Saturday

The court gave a verdict on the case and Salman Khan sentenced 5 years prison and fined him with 10 thousand.

The actor was held guilty in the 20-year-old case of killing two blackbucks during the shooting of the film "Hum Saath Saath Hain" in 1998. He will have to remain there for another day.

Apart from his sentence, Salman has also been charged with a penalty of Rs 10,000. Other actors including Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari were acquitted of all charges by the court.

This is the last of three poaching cases and an Arms Act case against Khan from the 1998 incidents. While his c0-actors were acquitted from the case, Salman wasn't spared, and the decision became an global news yesterday, as his fans and the nearly all of Bollywood industry came together to criticize the sentence and plead that there should be some kind of mercy for the actor.

Saif Ali Khan, who was acquitted in the case and Shatrughan Sinha with wife Poonam and daughter Sonakshi called on the family. While the actor is heading to the central jail, Twitterati are divided in opinion.

A sessions court Friday reserved its decision on Salman's bail plea till tomorrow.

Convicting the actor, a judge in Jodhpur court emphasised that the "accused is a film star and people look up to him". Salman is lodged in ward no. 2, adjacent to the cell of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who has been accused of rape.

Animal rights activists welcomed the sentencing, and some said Salman should have been given the maximum punishment under the Wildlife Act. Now according to the reports, Salman Khan spent his whole night behind the bars and he slept on the floor with four blankets. Even the pellets recovered from him did not corroborate the story of the prosecution. Sources said his legal troubles will not really affect Race 3, as some patchwork and dubbing are all that's left.
