Major Siri bug exposes all your hidden Signal messages on iPhone

And while the bug only applies to third-party notifications - as opposed to Apple's own Messages app - the popularity of third-party messaging services from the likes of WhatsApp certainly makes the bug something to worry about.

KitGuru Says: Apple hasn't had a wonderful time with iOS 11 so far, having to fix its many bugs since it released past year. The iOS 11 has been riddled with so many bugs and half-baked functionality that some of the users preferred to stick to the previous version.

A recently discovered security flaw shows that Siri will still read your hidden notifications aloud even if your phone is locked.

In a test, MacRumours reproduced this issue on an iPhone X running both iOS 11.2.6 and the latest iOS 11.3 beta, while confirming that the bug doesn't affect iMessage.

Protect Yourself: To hide message content on the Lock screen, click Settings Notifications, choose the app. Until Apple solves this issue, what you can do is to turn off the lock screen notifications for apps of which you don't want Siri to read out loud.

Apple started hiding notification previews by default when it rolled out iOS 11 a year ago. However, it does for third-party apps like emails, Facebook Messenger, Slack, Discord, and several more. Such design flaws in Digital Assistants will only make it more unsafe and thus override the usability.

"We are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming software update", Apple said in a statement given to the publication. Now, Apple has acknowledged the existing and persisting privacy-related issue on iPhone and iPad and is working on a fix which will be released soon.
