Agent WR Allen Robinson talks potential fit with Bears, 49ers

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Chicago agreed to a deal with tight end Trey Burton, which would mean three new pieces to the Bears offense in 2018.

Former Jacksonville and Penn State receiver Allen Robinson is expected to sign with the Bears per Adam Schefter. Regression hit hard in 2016, and Robinson came crashing back to earth with just 883 yards and six scores.

Robinson was surprisingly overlooked for the franchise tag tender from his current team Jacksonville and multiple reports have now emerged suggesting he intends to sign for the Bears.

The receiver broke the news himself in a conversation with ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Burton, 26, caught 23 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns previous year, and is best remembered for throwing a Super Bowl touchdown pass to quarterback Nick Foles on a play the Eagles borrowed from the Bears.

During Robinson's absence from the lineup, the Jaguars saw the emergence of rookie wide receivers Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook.

Robinson played the first four seasons of his National Football League career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But remember, Robinson is coming off a season-ending injury. Robinson is a great route runner and can make acrobatic catches. That said, it wouldn't be surprising if Robinson's deal guarantees double that, or close to it. Chicago's leading receiver previous year was Kendall Wright with 59 receptions for 614 yards.

Bears fans are through the roof with the way the depth chart looks.

Whether the plan is through the draft or another free agent, the Browns still need to add one last wide receiver.

Robinson joins Pernell McPhee, Danny Trevathan and Glennon as opening splash free-agent signings for Pace. Jeffery left to become a Super Bowl champ in free agency. He spent two years in Cleveland and two more in Atlanta on cheap deals before finally cashing in now. Now we wait to see if Robinson can play like it.
