Trump met with Clinton's impeachment lawyer to assist in Russian Federation probe

On Sunday morning, Trump took to Twitter to slam Maggie Haberman's story on The New York Times titled, "Trump Talks With Clinton Impeachment Lawyer About Aiding in Mueller Response".

Flood was interviewed over the summer about joining the White House counsel's office to manage the special counsel inquiry. They are doing a great job and.have shown conclusively that there was no Collusion with Russia.just excuse for losing.

In one case, Trump asked White House counsel Don McGahn to deny reporting that the president wanted him to fire Mueller previous year, and on another occasion, Trump reportedly asked his former chief of staff Reince Priebus if his interviewers were "nice". Trump has said there was no collusion between Moscow and his campaign and no obstruction. Nor did a contact for Clinton.

Emmet Flood represented President Bill Clinton during the impeachment process and discussed a day-to-day role helping Trump navigate his investigations.

Ty Cobb, a White House lawyer who had been leading Trump's response to the inquiry, has been predicting that special counsel Robert Mueller III's probe is nearly over. He also served in the White House Counsel's Office under president George W. Bush and has represented former vice president Dick Cheney.

NY lawyer Marc Kasowitz was leading Trump's legal team at the time, a role veteran Washington lawyer John Dowd took over last summer. It is unclear how Flood's responsibilities might differ from Cobb's.

Neither the White House nor Flood returned a request for comment.

Cobb has been cooperating with Mueller in an effort for the White House to put the probe behind it. One White House adviser said Flood could also be considered for the job of White House counsel.

Flood's law firm, Williams and Connolly, represents Hillary Clinton, including in the email scandal, one possible reason that sources told Reuters a year ago the firm turned down representing Trump as outside counsel.
