Muhammad Wilkerson to meet with other teams before making a decision

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Wilkerson's next visit will be with the New Orleans Saints.

(Mehta) said it was a "stretch" to say he was calling Wilkerson an alcoholic, but that it was common knowledge around the Jets' facility that Wilkerson has "issues with alcohol", even saying that drinking might have been to blame for him missing a practice a couple of years ago. I can't tell you, Boomer, how I'm just livid.

Wilkerson's mother, Ka'idah, didn't appreciate Mehta's take and called in to the show "livid" and defended her son.

"You always say all these things", she said.

In other words, if the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain. You said all these things.

"I'm not saying he's an alcoholic", Mehta replied. "You called him a fat slob".

A couple of points here: Wilkerson, to our knowledge, has never admitted to, nor been treated for addiction issues.

To do that, Wilkerson will not only have to improve his effort on the field, but off of it as well. Now, you can add parents to the list of people that Mehta has ticked off.

But Mehta, a friend of Pro Football Weekly, did cross the line here.

Perhaps this reported visit is just as much about the Chiefs finding out where Wilkerson's head is at as much as it's about Wilkerson trying to find another team to play for.

It also brings up a larger point: National Football League players are real people with real families whose lives are often intruded on and frequently uprooted, especially this time of year. As a result, he has gotten under the skin of many players, coaches, fans, etc.
