Quinn says Scotland test will be a huge one for Ireland

Super-prop Tadhg Furlong and Garry Ringrose return for Ireland and will start at tight-head and second-centre respectively against Scotland in this Saturday.

Other alterations from victory over Wales a fortnight ago see Garry Ringrose replace the injured Chris Farrell.

Ireland are the only team still with Grand Slam ambitions after Scotland's win over England at Murrayfield. Henderson had been tipped to slot straight back into the side but Schmidt has kept faith with his most-selected player in Toner.

Schmidt will shed further light on his second row selection at his press conference later this afternoon but his decision to go for Devin Toner ahead of the fit-again Iain Henderson is the main talking point. "It also adds a bit of our last 20 or 30 minutes of the game, where an athlete like Iain can come on".

Henshaw dislocated his right shoulder in the win over Italy last month, and Farrell - who replaced Henshaw for the win over Wales - tore knee ligaments in training.

Henderson, who missed the round three over Wales with a hamstring injury, has to settle for a place on the bench as Schmidt opts to maintain the pairing of Toner and James Ryan from last time out. Payne has not played since last year's Lions tour to New Zealand, having suffered persistent headaches.

Ringrose has only featured in six games for his club Leinster this season but looked sharp in a 50-minute run out two weeks ago and Schmidt said he was hopeful such a smart player can hit the ground running on his worldwide return. I think Garry Ringrose has been extraordinary when he has played for us, he's done an incredible job.

Ireland's replacements bench has four changes as Henderson, Porter, Jordan Larmour and Jordi Murphy take over from Quinn Roux, John Ryan, Fergus McFadden and Jack Conan.

IRELAND: R Kearney; K Earls, G Ringrose, B Aki, J Stockdale; J Sexton, C Murray; C Healy, R Best (capt), T Furlong; J Ryan, D Toner; P O'Mahony, D Leavy, CJ Stander.
