Pearland High School student arrested after gun found in backpack, police say

The school later contacted parents through texts alerting them to an important message about the incidents on the district's website.

Police said they have investigated multiple threats since the school shooting in Florida, but none of them have been deemed credible. "As a reminder, matters regarding students are made confidential by federal law".

Police said the 15-year-old student was located, and a firearm was found in his possession. The student ran from the building but was stopped by police near the front door.

Genoa Township Police offer their appreciation to the individual who reported their concern.

To students and parents who spoke out, Palkovic said: "Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. Since the student is a juvenile, his identity will not be released". Care and caution should be taken to avoid promulgation of rumors on social media. Police learned that no one is in danger, and no other students were involved.

Waldheim added the reminder that, "any threats, whether they are said jokingly or posted on social media, are going to be taken seriously, and investigated thoroughly".

Enid Public Schools officials reiterated the importance of student safety.

The Chief says there is no evidence of any ongoing threat against Spencer Schools. School was open as usual Friday. The threat also prompted the placement of additional officers at the school.
