Volkswagen's ID Vizzion concept is a self-driving, electric dream auto

"While it may seem like a sci-fi idea of what the future may look like, almost all of the technology in the I.D. Vizzion either exists already or is under development by VW and its suppliers".

Yes, we are moving to an age when a driverless vehicle heads into production and Volkswagen, with its I.D. Vizzion concept showed the brand's idea of what the future will be like.

Although the new concept auto on display in Geneva goes without a steering wheel in a preview of Volkswagen's plans to introduce fully autonomous driving capability to its production models by the end of next decade in a four-seat interior described as a lounge on wheels, the new saloon is planned to be launched with a more conventional control layout similar to that of other first-generation I.D. models. And we will be offering this model - by the latest in 2022 - as the top sedan in the I.D. family.

Renault Chief Operating Officer Thierry Bollore called it an "urban, "robo-vehicle" electric concept that can be tailored for public and private services". Inside, the cabin is devoid of the usual driver controls - no steering wheel, no pedals and no interior controls. It's aimed at a comfortable passenger experience and efficient aerodynamics.

Operating the I.D. VIZZION is through intuitive interactions between human and machine using augmented reality, mixed-reality eyewear (HoloLens), and voice control functionality.

The Level 5 concept would conceivably use, according to VW, "inter-connected laser scanners, ultrasonic sensors, radar sensors for objects in the near-zone and radar sensors for long distances, front and rear cameras and side area view cameras". The car's communications technology is a virtual assistant capable of learning and responding empathically.

The interior of the I.D. Vizzion concept features four captain seat and thick carpeting. Because it gives its passengers space to relax, communicate, or work while on the road. Yet the design of the I.D.

The I.D. Vizzion would get 413 miles of range on a battery, though that calculation is based on European standards and the US range would likely be less. This is the year when the initial version of the I.D. VIZZION will first be available with conventional controls. Based on VW's MEB platform, the Volkswagen I.D. Vizzion concept is a preview of a future VW electric sedan. They develop a total system power of around 300bhp. "This allows us to occupy multiple segments and meet customer demands - up to and including a large touring saloon".
