March's Android Security Update Goes Live for Nexus and Pixel Devices

Previously available only for owners of the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google's AI camera feature, Google Lens is now available for more devices.

During MWC 2018 last week, Google also said owners of flagship Android devices from Samsung, Huawei, LG, Motorola, Sony, and Nokia will also be able to access Google Lens through the Google Assistant in the upcoming weeks.

Google has posted both the OTA's and the factory images for the selected Nexus or Pixel devices.

As per usual, the Security Bulletin for March contains patches for critical vulnerabilities in Android - a lot of them still found in the media framework and system components.

Google Lens is an add-on for photos which allows users to scan images for more information. Since then, Google has provided monthly security updates on the dot.

The Pixel line-up has a single update build (OPM1.171019.021), whereas the Nexus 6P and 5X will get carrier-dependent builds.

March 2018 Security update for the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL also brings Performance, Audio improvements, and other fixes. Like always, an OTA (Over the Air) update will also be delivered to users via the on-device System Update feature.
