Law enforcement from the Boone County Sheriff's Office, including Deputy Jacob Pickett, joined in that chase. Around 9:39 a.m., the vehicle stopped on Indian Springs Drive, where a foot chase took place.

Deputy Jacob Pickett was shot to death on Friday.

The deputy was first taken to Witham Hospital, then later transferred to St. Vincent Indianapolis.

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. - An Indiana deputy is in critical condition after being shot by a fleeing suspect.

Memorial services for Deputy Pickett are not known at this time.

John D. Baldwin Jr. got back into the auto and drove away before being arrested along nearby Interstate 65, police said. He was last listed in stable condition, according to WTHR. A memorial is being set up Saturday at the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

The incident began when officers from the Lebanon Police Department were attempting to serve an outstanding warrant on Yates Street, in Lebanon on a female suspect. He has been identified as the man who shot Pickett. In addition to John Baldwin Jr. and John Baldwin Sr., the other suspect was identified as 21-year-old Anthony Bumghart. Baldwin Jr. was located on I-65 after taking off in the Ford Focus.

The third suspect, John Baldwin Sr., was on the run for roughly two hours, forcing Lebanon Schools, the Boone Co. The warrant was for two 2017 cases: auto theft and possession of syringe. State police say the man they believe shot Pickett was shot by officers and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lebanon Community School Corporation schools and support facilities were placed on lockdown and lockout.
