Chelsea ahead of Manchester United in race to sign Bundesliga goal-machine

Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski is the name at the top of their shopping list, according to talkSport, but the Polish global will likely cost a small fortune.

The Poland global has been in sensational goalscoring form this campaign, finding the net 29 times for the Bavarians in all competitions, but having recently changed his agent to Pini Zahavi - it is rumoured that the 29-year-old is looking to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.

Lewandowski, however, has dismissed the talk as merely amusing speculation.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the Pole and Zahavi has a history of brokering deals for the Premier League champions and played a central role in Roman Abramovich's acquisition of the club in 2003.

The Poland captain has reportedly attracted strong interest from reigning European champions Real Madrid, who are looking to bolster their strike force in the summer.

Lewandowski has been in Bundesliga since the summer of 2010, when he joined Borussia Dortmund from homeland club Lech Poznan.

Chelsea have been struggling for goals this campaign with Alvaro Morata now on a barren run, and United will be looking to add competition to Romelu Lukaku for their No.9 spot.

Lewandowski has been in impressive form this season, with 29 goals in 34 appearances for Bayern so far.

Moreover, Chelsea went out and signed Frenchman Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window from Arsenal.

According to Sky Sports News, Lewandowski's decision to switch to agent Pini Zahavi came as a result of his desire to leave Bavaria. But then again, there is a potential prospect of a reunion with Pep Guardiola as well, as it was him who signed Lewandowski from Dortmund back in 2014.
