Vodafone India has silently introduced a new prepaid tariff plan of Rs 158, matching the benefits of Airtel and Idea Cellular's Rs 149 prepaid plan.

According to the official Idea Cellular website, the Rs. 109 prepaid pack offers "unlimited" local, STD, and roaming calls, alongside 1GB of 4G/ 3G data and daily 100 local and national SMS. The revised plans are offering unlimited data calling with 28 GB data, which will be divided into 1 GB data\per day.

It will also compete against Airtels ₹168 plan which offers unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day and 1GB data per day for 28 days for the Airtel partnered 4G handsets. The plan is to counter the Rs. 93 plan from Airtel which launched a few weeks back with 28 days validity. 100SMS/Day Local and National are also bundled with this prepaid recharge plan. A TelecomTalk report citing a retailer in the region has come up with the details of these new plans. Idea's all-new Rs 109 plan comes days after the launch of Rs 93 prepaid recharge plan. Interestingly with a difference of only ₹7 Vodafone is offering 27GB more data. Telecom operators are launching new plans at regular intervals to rival each other.

Both operators have cut the price of the cheapest unlimited voice and data pack to the Rs 150 range from Rs 200 range, bringing them into direct competition with Reliance Jio.

Airtel's Rs 59 recharge gets users unlimited local and STD calls, free roaming, 100 SMS per day and 500MB data for seven days.

If you're looking for month-long validity, Airtel offers unlimited local + STD calls and 1GB/day 4G/3G data for 28 days at Rs 169.
