YouTube TV ups price and adds Turner channels

With this expansion comes several new major channels, including Adult Swim, Turner Classic Movies, and more.

Google has announced some updates for its YouTube TV live television streaming service that go into effect today.

But wait, there's more! What's more, sports lovers will be thrilled to hear that NBA TV and the MLB Network will join YouTube TV's base package. Customers also in the next few months be able to subscribe to watch NBA League Pass and MLB.TV as premium add-ons. The company confirmed that the price of its core monthly package will increase from $35 to $40 a month starting March 13 for new subscribers. In a blog post, YouTube TV director of content partnerships Heather Moosnick pointed out that this brings Anderson Cooper and Rick and Morty to the service.

Google's YouTube TV streaming service arrived last April.

In addition to getting new channels, YouTube TV is also hitting a number of new markets including Springfield, Petersburg, Lexington, Dayton, Richmond, Scranton, Burlington, Charleston, Wichita, Columbia, Honolulu, and more.

YouTube TV is available in over 100 markets in the U.S. Its features also include unlimited cloud DVR and up to size accounts per household.

Keeping that in mind, Google has focused on sports fans with its TV advertisements this year.

YouTube TV's skinny bundle is adding a key draw, and beefing up its pricing as well.

At launch YouTube TV offered nearly 50 channels in five markets.

YouTube TV was built to try and fill those needs. You can check out the YouTube TV website to see if you are in a covered market. The good news is that this only applies to those who are signing up for YouTube TV for the first time. It now appears that surprise is more than just the addition of the Turner networks, but a jump in subscription rates for the service beginning the middle of March.
