Liverpool had 'no other option' selling Coutinho

After Coutinho sealed a whopping £142 million transfer, Liverpool are on the hunt to replace his services with the club reportedly looking to accelerate Naby Keita's transfer this month.

And while his old team-mates at Liverpool prepare for Sunday's visit of 's Manchester City, Coutinho is getting a closer look at his new team-mates in the crucial second leg cup match.

It was his dream [to move to Barca] and it is the truth when I say he left Liverpool for only one club and we really had to accept that.

"If there is one thing I'd like the [Coutinho] money to go on, it would be a world-class goalkeeper".

Philippe Coutinho was sold to Barcelona for £146m after a lengthy pursuit which dates back to last summer, making the Brazilian the second-most expensive player in history.

The England global defender told The Mirror: "It's a massive club with so many top players and I think we know how good he is, everyone is happy for Phil, but now it's about us bouncing back and moving on as a team. That's easy because we still have fantastic players here and if we have difficulties in the next few games, we don't have them because Phil is not here anymore - we have them because we have difficulties, that's all".

"He did fantastic in the first part of the season after the thing we had to deal with in the summer. We have everything we need to get the right result". The fact is he has gone now and we have to think about what we have got that is going to get the job done. There was never a time I thought that I'd made the wrong decision. I knew that was what I was going to face.

"From day one, I wanted to play as much as possible, so I was always trying to do my best to put pressure on the manager to play me", he said. "He has the things that we like".

"It is not that they say: 'You've got this but we've done this and this and so you can not spend.' Everything is fine".

"Even when there were times I wasn't playing as much as I would have liked, I respected I was the new boy and I had a lot of learning to do".

"He is a player of Leipzig, that's what I know, and will be here in the summer".

Coutinho is training at the Ciutat Esportiva and recovering from a thigh injury.

"We have just brought in Virgil and what an awesome addition he has been".
