Obama gives dancing tips in first clip of Letterman's new show

Barack Obama: This was probably three or four months before he died and Prince asks Sasha to come up and dance, and she's an excellent dancer. Instead it features a particularly famous dad discussing his daughter Sasha and how he tried not to embarrass her when dancing alongside Prince.

The ex-commander in chief describes his dance style to David Letterman in a preview clip released Wednesday from the former "Late Show" host's new Netflix series, "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction".

It marks Obama's first TV talk show appearance since leaving the White House.

. "I have 'dad moves.' And I think the key is what we call 'staying in the pocket, '" he says, making the audience laugh.

Barack Obama: Is that one of the things you do?

You may have heard that David Letterman is coming back and he's bringing former President Barack Obama with him. And they're trying stuff that they can't really pull off. Obama responds, and Letterman, 70, bursts out into laughter.

"My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" premieres Friday with Obama as its first guest.

Letterman's new, hour-long series is set to air monthly after the Obama episode debuts on January 12. In addition to welcoming our former commander in chief, Letterman will chat with actor George Clooney, Nobel Prize victor Malala Yousafzai, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, comedian Tina Fey, and radio personality Howard Stern.
