Roland's family has been pleading for her whereabouts.

The roommate told KHOU that the man followed Roland to her home in a blue truck. The man followed her in a blue truck all the way home, but then he allegedly drove off when she got out. It also said that Roland's mother received a text on Sunday from missing daughter's phone number saying: "Hello the owner of this phone Courtney. I am purchasing an iPad".

Throughout social media, Roland's peers and colleagues posted about the reporter's disappearance.

A message left on her phone was not immediately returned.

Ms Roland failed to meet her roommate for a planned meet-up later in the day, according to local media station KHOU.

Roland hosts a podcast called the AggieYell.

Police say 29-year-old Courtney Roland was last seen Sunday evening walking alone in a store at a shopping mall. She texted a roommate, telling her a suspicious man at a Walgreens was following her. Driving 2015 Silver Jeep Cherokee License Plate HZC7778.

Her white Jeep was found overnight in a parking garage close to the shopping center, police said.
