The film is set for theatrical release on March 2.

Dominika Egorova (Jennifer Lawrence) is an adult ballerina who, after being injured, is drafted against her will to become a "Sparrow" - a Russian intelligence officer, taught to use her body and mind as weapons, as well as being trained in psychological manipulation. The trailer is essentially her origin story on fast forward, as we witness the way that she was lured into the service of her government to become a Sparrow, through a harsh regime that was created to strip away her old identity and transform her into an unfeeling killer. Directed by Francis Lawrence, Red Sparrow stars Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker, and Jeremy Irons. And a Russian saying, "If she is compromised, she will be eliminated".

Dominika has to now reconcile who she was with the person she now is whilst putting her own life and the people she cares about lives in danger.

Red Sparrow is based on the first in author Jason Matthews' trilogy. After enduring the perverse and sadistic training process, she emerges as the most unsafe Sparrow the program has ever produced. About finding the sexuality in the character, Lawrence says this.

Red Sparrow is on fleek

"One of the things that drew me into the story, is that it really is a personal story for a character, which I think is pretty rare in terms of the spy genre". Or tend to be much more, kind of, plot-driven, and less personal and personal dilemma driven.

Jennifer Lawrence not only gets to show off her assassin skills in Red Sparrow, the movie also allowed the actress to explore a side of herself she hadn't in awhile. Audiences responded to Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen in Hunger Games because she was a plucky survivor who ultimately became a hero in a larger sense.

Despite drawing instant comparisons to Black Widow and last year's Atomic Blonde, Red Sparrow is its own demon.
