She tweeted, "Pained to hear that four policemen have been killed in an IED explosion in Sopore".

JeM terrorists detonated a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that killed four policemen, including an officer, in Kashmir's apple-rich town of Sopore on Saturday morning. Inspector General of Police (Kashmir range) Munir Khan said the IED had been planted in a shop and triggered off when police personnel on duty came closer to it.

The separatists had called for a shutdown in Sopore town on Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of Sopore massacre in which 55 people were killed in alleged firing by Border Security Force (BSF) on this day in 1993. "May the four courageous J&K police personnel killed in the line of duty today rest in piece".

"Our normal law and order deployment reached the lane between Chotta Bazaar and Bada Bazaar". Three shops were damaged in the blast, eyewitnesses said.

Jammu and Kashmir police took to Twitter to confirm the blast and number of policemen killed in the blast. "Its use had nearly ended".

"We will put our heads together and chalk out some new strategies to tackle this thing, he said". A mere statement does not mean that only they have done it.

A police officer told IANS that the injured were shifted to the hospital and a search operation is underway.
