Timeline leading up to Terry Miles' arrest in Colorado

Miles is facing kidnapping charges and was scheduled for an initial appearance Thursday at 3 p.m.in Federal District Court in Denver.

Terry Miles is accused of abducting the girls.

Banks said Miles was found by deputies with the Las Animas County Sheriff's Office and he was taken into custody without incident following a short chase.

Police said 14-year-old Lilianas Griffith and seven-year-old Luluvioletta Bandera-magret were found on Wednesday in Trinidad, Colorado, almost 700 miles from their Texas home.

The day after Miles was caught on camera, the girls' mother, Tonya Bates, 44, was found dead inside her home in Round Rock, in what is being investigated as a homicide. Miles was found within hours of police releasing pictures from that video.

The deputy stopped the vehicle and arrested Miles without a struggle.

At around 1 a.m. December 30, Miles' mother received a text message from a phone that belonged to one of the girls, according to the DOJ. Police said Griffith and Bandera-magret were inside the vehicle.

KRDO NewsChannel13 obtained on Thursday the criminal complaint affidavit laying out a timeline that led up to Terry Miles' arrest on Wednesday night in Colorado.

The girls and Miles will also be interviewed, Banks told the outlet. Officials said they found the suspect's gray Hyundai Accent and initiated a high-risk traffic stop when they said Miles began driving erratically. Police discovered the body of 44-year-old Tonya Bates, during a welfare check.

Authorities said she appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma, similar to another case Miles was connected to in Louisiana. No one else was at the residence at the time, and authorities also noted that Bates' 2017 Hyundai Accent was missing.

It's not clear how Bates died. "I cant talk now tonya was involved in some bad stuff I will talk to you later when im safe these guys are insane Mexicans". At first, investigators believed Miles left for Louisiana, where he was previously arrested in 2011 for attempted murder.

'When we interviewed him for that it was a pretty disturbing interview, ' Mancuso said.

Police said they believed the girls did not willingly go with him. Miles remains in Colorado and will be extradited to Texas in the next couple of weeks, a supervisor with the U.S. Marshals Office told KVUE.
