Rumor: Nintendo Direct Planned for January 11

Nintendo is a Switch-selling machine, and it doesn't look like the company will be slowing down at any point next fiscal year.

Amazon has recently added more than dozen unannounced games for the Nintendo Switch, hinting at a potential Nintendo Direct. Nintendo has usually held a Direct at the start of the year to announce their games lineup for the rest of the year. But don't be surprised if it's yet another classic title given a second chance at life, like Axelay or any given Konami franchise. Over the holiday weekend, Amazon briefly sent a number of listings for Switch games live, revealing that there are numerous titles in development for Nintendo's latest console. The popular strategy game titled "The Escapists" had its sequel in 2017.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima spoke to Kyoto Shimbun in an interview where he discussed the console and how it continues to surpass expectations in terms of the Switch's sales targets.

The numbers are especially promising for Nintendo, which experienced severe supply chain issues during the console's first few months and struggled to meet demand. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Zelda: Breath of the Wild both re-entered the top ten meanwhile, taking #9 and #10, with Zelda rising a whole ten places from last week. However, Nintendo Switch players will only get their version of the game this year on January 11. Rogers' reply says, "John Harker is telling the truth about the 11th", followed by a tease about an unannounced SNK Nintendo Switch project. Considering that the Switch is already doing something no other console now does (namely, being both a living room console, and a competent hand-held device), this statement is certainly going to stir up some excitement for the future capabilities of the Switch.
