Khabib Nurmagomedov responds to inevitable Conor McGregor question

Khabib Nurmagomedov's one-sided, unanimous-decision victory over fourth-rated lightweight Edson Barboza was a significant move that boxes in the division's absent champion, Conor McGregor, who could possibly be forced to flee the 155-pound game division.

He did it all after a training camp in San Jose spent awaiting the birth of his second child, a son, who arrived hours before Saturday's fight. Maybe they're ... maybe if the UFC approves, I can fight with these guys in the same night. Conor- he only have one fight in the UFC at 155 [pounds] and he's champion.

Granted, Nurmagomedov said he could dispatch both within the same night, but the larger point of the matter was his intention to fight Ferguson next. "I swear, no joke".

And the undefeated Dagestani bruiser insists he was deadly serious with his fightweek declaration that he could beat up "The Notorious" and interim 155lb champ Tony Ferguson in one night.

UFC fans, especially his compatriots back in Russian Federation watching the fight live despite the time gap, were eager to find out if Nurmagomedov could keep his ideal pro MMA record (24-0), and make up for the canceled bout with Tony Ferguson due to weight issues.

"Maybe I have to stay humble but I have to little bit smash these guys, give these guys back, because these No 1 bulls**t guys talk too much when I am injured". He beat Eddie Alvarez. This is real belt.

"He's a good fighter, but he's not the champion. I don't think about those two bullshit guys, I think about only me". I think lot of people can beat him in 155. "This is a little bit insane, I think". "He has good boxing, good timing, but he don't have wrestling, he don't have grappling, he don't have conditioning, but he have a belt".

He said: "I can't imagine that I'm gonna fight in Vegas and I'm gonna show in last, biggest event of UFC year, I'm gonna show best performance of the night, and Tyson gonna watch my fight".

"Tonight, when I went to the cage, I felt my fans missed me", Nurmagomedov said.

"To be honest, I don't think about Conor".

However, the 29-year-old's time away from the octagon has evidently done nothing to diminish his ability to dominate his opponents, as he proved with a dominant display against Barboza last night, a victory which also earned him Performance Of The Night honours.
