Isaiah Thomas will make his Cavaliers debut Tuesday coming off the bench

Isaiah Thomas has not yet taken the floor as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the All-Star point guard continues to recover from a well documented hip injury.

It makes sense on a number of levels that the Cavs would not want to expose Thomas to a heightened atmosphere against Boston, as Kyrie Irving will also face his former team and Thomas could be nearly overly motivated on the heels of the trade.

He returned to the team but re-aggravated the injury in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semi finals against the Wizards and did not play the rest of the season.

Coach Tyronn Lue is relishing having his new star available, and believes it will significantly strengthen the Cavs. "But once I get out there it's going to be too hard to hold me back".

Thomas - who (of course) was traded to the Cavaliers along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the 2018 Brooklyn Nets pick in exchange for Kyrie Irving - has not played yet this season. Cleveland said Thomas will play for a restricted number of minutes and will not play on the second night of back-to-back games. "I'm just really excited, it's a good moment for us".

"And that is to make plays, try to make the right play each and every time".

"I'm happy it's here", Thomas said of his debut. "That's all I can be".
