Extreme cold warning continues for New Year's Eve

An Arctic Blast has the U.S.in the deep freeze, but what does it really mean when your body starts to shiver?

The temperature in Kansas City Sunday morning was 5 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

"Although winds are relatively light, the extreme cold is expected to produce windchill values below minus 30 this morning, and again tonight", the national weather services projects. A Wind Chill Advisory is also in effect from 10 p.m. this evening through noon Monday for all of the Four State region.

2017 goes out in very cold fashion with highs in the upper teens and isolated snow showers. New Year's Day, as extremely cold air continues to sweep through the region.

10 to 15 miles per hour will result in dangerously cold wind chills ranging from 0 to 10 above zero across the Four State region.

Amid the cold conditions, Wasula said people should make an effort to "not stay out too long" but be prepared if getting out.
