Thompson, McLaurin lead Bulldogs past Louisville in TaxSlayer Bowl

Jackson's 50th career rushing touchdown came in the second quarter of Louisville's matchup against No. 23 Mississippi State in the Taxslayer Bowl. He racked up 111 rushing yards in the first half.

The 2016 Heisman Trophy victor became just the third quarterback in FBS history with at least 50 passing and 50 rushing touchdowns for his career. He has also rushed for 1,400-plus yards and 17 touchdowns.

The win gives Mississippi State its third nine-win season (9-4) in four years after a hectic period.

But you knew Jackson wasn't going to be totally upstaged in this game, and sure enough, he had one of the best highlights of the game on this ankle-breaking touchdown run in the second quarter to tie the game at 14-14. Jackson broke free for a 75-yard run, the longest of his career, and then found Jaylen Smith in the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown on the next play. He entered the TaxSlayer Bowl with 67 career passing touchdowns.

Louisville answered with a 13-play, 61-yard drive that stalled in the red zone.

The side with the true freshman ended up pulling out a turnover-filled affair in Jacksonville, as the Bulldogs picked off Jackson four times on their way to a 31-27 win.

Jackson, a Pompano Beach, Florida, native, has thrown for more than 3,400 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. He has now done it twice (2016 and 2017).
