Greenville officers track down man wanted in 'shoplifting turned robbery,' police say

The store's attendant reported a man with a covered face came into the store with a handgun and demanded money, according to the police department.

The first robbery occurred about 10:45 a.m.at Salon Centric located at 425 S.E. Greenville Boulevard.

The gunman is described as a thin black man wearing white sneakers, khaki cargo-style trousers, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a skeleton-style mask.

Police said a 37-year-old suspect was in custody, but that an investigation was still ongoing.

Greenville police say the other robbery Thursday happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. near ECU's campus. The area is behind the parking lot for the East Carolina Police Department.

Anyone who has information about the man's identity or whereabouts is asked to call police at 313-596-5940 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. "The two suspects forced their way into the house and robbed them. The second victim activated the panic alarm, as the suspect left the establishment on foot with approximately $100".

The first suspect is a black male last seen wearing dark trousers and a light-colored sweatshirt or coat and running west on 11th street toward Lawrence Street.
