People's Credit Union was happy to once again participate in the Rhode Island Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program, which was coordinated by the Credit Union's Community Enhancement Committee. "People have suggested that we "pretend" not to know of The Salvation Army's reputation".

The Salvation Army is in the midst of its busiest time of year, receiving donations of food and toys from the public and distributing them to those in need.

Many parents have felt that pit in the stomach before Christmas - hoping to make ends meet while also having enough money left over to give their children a special and memorable Christmas.

"There's a lot of wonderful people of all demographics and all ages coming out and volunteers and the volunteers are a cross section of society", said Oakes.

The one ounce gold coin is worth $1,255, said Allen Rowe, president of Northern Nevada Coin. "When a large number like that is returned, it does signify something sure happened. It seems we have offended people which obviously we regret and that was not our intention in a holiday gift drive".

"We started packing much later because we had a hard time locating the space that we'd been looking for", she said.

"The City of Columbia Falls has proven to be the city with the most generosity they are the reigning champs and the ones to beat", a very friendly competition but it benefits the community which is important", said Salvation Army Major Bill Lum.

If anyone wants to donate, they can drop off a turkey at the Salvation Army at 3950 Clayton Road on Saturday or Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Funds raised during the Kettle Season previous year made it possible to provide critical support for over 74,000 people, through food, after school programs, and more.
