Virtual Reality Is Power In The Second Trailer For Ready Player One

His Pentagon Papers drama The Post opens in theaters in just a few short weeks, and in March we'll be treated to the project he actually completed shooting before starting on Ready Player One, an adaptation of Ernest Cline's cyberpunk bestseller Ready Player One. It's a futuristic take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory of sorts that's littered with references to pop culture, video games, and other pillars of geek culture.

He also mentioned that he's writing a sequel to Ready Player One, saying, "There's no better inspiration for a writer to return to a world that they have worked on than Steven Spielberg bringing that world to life".

Spielberg directed the film from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline.

Ready Player One tries to prove March is not a tiresome month when it bows 3.30.18. The person who finds it wins $500 billion and control of the Oasis. Needless to say, everyone will be trying to get their hands on Halliday's fortune, so a race begins to be the first to find the easter egg.

In a dystopian 2044 (Ohio in the film, Oklahoma in the book), Wade spends as much of his time as possible in the virtual-reality world called the OASIS. It was basically "look we have this cool character that you care about in this movie, come see it". The game is essentially a digital universe, and its creator James Halliday (Mark Rylance) has set up a treasure hunt following his death.

Also starring Simon Pegg and T.J. Miller, it's out across the United Kingdom on March 30, 2018. The hero, a poverty-stricken teenager named Wade Watts (played by Tye Sheridan, who recently played young Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse), has a more distorted and very blue OASIS avatar - which goes by "Parzival", his OASIS username - while the avatar of presumably Art3mis (Olivia Cooke from Bates Motel) resembles a red elf creature.
