Sadiq Khan crosses Wagah Border on foot!

A reporter was caught on camera today asking London Mayor Sadiq Khan "what does it feel like coming home?" as he spoke to media in Pakistan.

Sadiq Khan is leading a trade mission under the theme "London Is Open" to both India and Pakistan and is flanked by a 16-member delegation.

Earlier, the London Mayor had a busy day in Islamabad as he met business leaders to discuss how together ways to promote London and Pakistan's links in trade, investment, education, tourism and culture.

BBC has defended their reporter's bold question by pointing out that it originated from the fact that many, including Punjab's chief minister Shehbaz Sharif, had called the mayor's trip "homecoming". PM Abbasi said that successful efforts to eradicate the menace of terrorism have made Pakistan an opportune destination for United Kingdom businesses.

"The foreign minister also briefed the mayor about Pakistan's successes in the economic field and the regional situation", a Foreign Office statement said.

Sadiq Khan is now taking part in the first ever trade mission by a London mayor to India and Pakistan.

The mayor was received at the Wagah border by Mayor of Lahore retired Col Mubashar Javed and senior officials of the Punjab government. He was happy to note that Pakistan and its society were progressing.

Lahore's mayor thanked Mr Khan for visiting and shared that he wished to strengthen social and cultural ties with London.
