Chiefs suspend cornerback Marcus Peters for Raiders game

ALAMEDA, Calif. - On one hand, the Kansas City Chiefs suspending All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters means we will not have a repeat of Marshawn Lynch running on the field to save his close Oakland friend from his Raiders teammates, should the need arise. "It's something I've done in the past", Reid said. Running back Kareem Hunt, once the obvious Offensive Rookie of the Year, has been stuck in neutral since mid-October.

Still, Carr said Peters missing the game does not "dramatically" alter what the Raiders aim to do at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, when two of the three 6-6 teams tied for first place in the AFC West meet. The star corner has been suspended by the team for Sunday's game against the Raiders. "Especially this week. It's something we have not been able to do since I've been here, so we've got to get on that".

"I for sure saw some good things. I deal with the player man to man and we talk about it and discuss it and inevitably he'll come back and we'll move on from there". His only public comment since Sunday's game came on Twitter Tuesday morning: "Lol".

The Chiefs responded by putting up some big numbers, even if their defense wasted them, and it was at least enough for Reid to consider keeping Nagy in charge of the play-calling. Lynch, though, made contact with an official and was served with a one-game suspension. And, of course, Peters is due for a contract extension soon.

Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson was called for defensive holding while the Jets were attempting a two-point conversion after scoring a touchdown. He said he wouldn't go into details, but the suspension reportedly stems from an incident during the game against the New York Jets.

Carr has had success against the Chiefs - most notably his first National Football League win in 2014 and a 31-30 win on October 19 when he threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree with no time remaining. He did not re-enter the game. Peters missed a game last season, sitting out a home contest against the Tampa Bay Bucs with a hip pointer injury. "I'm not going to get into the whole (thing), other than I had a chance to Marcus and I felt this was the right thing to do at this time and not make it any more than that".

Quarterback Alex Smith said he officially learned of the Wednesday morning. "It gets to people and it's a tough situation". We do know that the Raiders are getting a big boost to their receiver corps anyway.

Smith suggested the team's recent losing skid may have affected Peters.
