FSU hires former USF coach to replace Fisher

He posted a 7-5 record in his first year with the Ducks.

Taggart spent 363 days as Head Coach of Oregon Football and turned around a program that was in need of him.

So who is Willie Taggart?

Oregon head coach Willie Taggart gives feedback from the sidelines against Oregon State in an NCAA college football game Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 in Eugene, Ore. The landscape is different than it is in most places and high school coaches aren't as involved in the process as they are in other states. As it turns out, the wait for the next head coach didn't take all that long like officials promised. After ending WKU's 26-game losing streak and going 2-10 in his first season, he made strides while going 7-5 in both 2011 and 2012.

OR co-OC and OL coach Mario Cristobal will serve as interim head coach.

And now he's the Seminoles' next head coach.

When FSU football first announced that Jimbo Fisher had abandoned ship and was leaving for Texas A&M, school officials announced that a search would begin and the next head coach of the Seminoles would be hired as quickly as possible.

In fact, the state's seven FBS programs have all hired a new coach within the last two years.

Taggart is also known for bringing in elite recruiting classes and knows the Florida circuit as well as anyone.

Florida State finished this season 6-6 and will play Southern Miss in the Independence Bowl.
