Jak and Daxter classics to be available on PS4

Jak II, Jak 3, Jak X: Combat Racing, and the Legacy Dashboard Theme hit PS4 on December 6.

Just like any other titles coming to the PS4 from the PS2, all three of the Jak and Daxter titles will feature snazzy 1080p graphics, as well as PSN trophies, and Share Play and Remote Play capabilities.

Sony writes: "Set on an unnamed planet, these games follow the two protagonists, Jak and Daxter, as they try to unlock the secrets of their world and discover mysteries left behind by the Precursors". This served as a springboard for narrative experimentation, leading to a lot of the masterpiece quality work we see from them today. Well now the entire series will be available for you to download/purchase on the PS4. In 2003, Naughty Dog gave Jak a voice and added a Morph Gun at his disposal, giving the sequel third-person shooter elements. Interestingly, they made a decision to take the franchise in another direction when they released their fourth main game, Jak X Combat Racing in 2005. People will be able to buy the games separately or together in a bundle.

Together, the entirety of Naughty Dog's Jak and Daxter installments will be playable on the current Sony platform. Jak and Daxter evolved from whimsical lighthearted platforming characters to a much darker vision of a future's past world where Jak and Daxter find themselves pitted against multiple dark forces moving against them.

The PS2 Classic version of Combat Racing marks the first time the game will be re-released, while Jak II and 3 were part of the PS3's Jak and Daxter Collection in 2012. Naughty Dog would go on to create the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises.
