Groin injury sidelines Pelicans PF Anthony Davis

The New Orleans Pelicans will very likely face the Portland Trail Blazers today without their talisman forward Anthony Davis, according to William Guillory of The New Orleans Times Picayune.

With the Pelicans awaiting further word on Davis' left pelvis injury, New Orleans improved to 2-0 this season in games with Davis sidelined, including the Week 2 comeback win at Sacramento on TNT. It only got worse during the New Orleans Pelicans' trip to take on the Utah Jazz on Friday night.

The Pelicans medical staff and a handful of teammates came across the floor to carry him off, as Davis put no weight at all on his left side.

F Anthony Davis exited Friday night's game against the Jazz with a groin injury in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. While there was no apparent hard contact during the play, he had to be helped off the court. He finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He was named Western Conference Player of the Week, then on Wednesday earned his first career ejection after arguing with a referee, which resulted in a $25,000 fine from the National Basketball Association.
