The violent altercation started around 4:30 a.m. outside a hookah lounge in Queens, when the driver of a white Hyundai sedan got out of his vehicle and stabbed two other people, New York Police Department Assistant Chief David Barrere said.

Police officers responded after being notified of an assault outside XS NYC, a hookah lounge in South Ozone Park, Queens, about 4:30 a.m. Two men were stabbed and are hospitalized in stable condition.

According to a NYPD detective, as quoted by AP, the incident is not believed to be a terror act. "The bodies went flying. The auto was going really fast, at least 50 miles per hour on the sidewalk", a witness identified as Rogers told NY Daily News.

"The girl is yelling 'Stop, stop".

One person was killed and five others injured, one of them critically, from getting hit by the vehicle.

Police were searching for the driver, The Associated Press reported. The pair were recovering and in stable condition.

Police did not immediately provide a description of the driver that fled.

Police are still looking for the driver, who was driving a white Hyundai Sonata, Jones said.
