The prime minister further said that harmonising laws and regulations for trade practices, movement of merchandise and custom rules will facilitate better trade among partners.

Speaking at the 16th Meeting of Council of Government of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in Russia's Sochi city, Swaraj said, 'At the very outset, India strongly condemns terrorism in all its form and manifestation.

The meeting is mandated to focus on the strategy, prospects and priorities for SCO's developmental cooperation. In June, India and Pakistan had become full-fledged members of the SCO.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a permanent regional worldwide organization founded in 2001 to comprise China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The retreat would be followed by a plenary session of the CHG, where Abbasi would deliver a speech.

"The objective of this format should be to support Afghanistan's efforts for a peaceful political settlement through dialogue and combatting security and terrorism threats to Afghanistan and the region".

Last week, Raveesh Kumar had said Swaraj will have bilateral meetings with several leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

It will also work towards ensuring safety in cooperative projects initiated with China, such as coordination in multilateral mechanism and other regional matters along with SCO, he said. India's membership was strongly pushed by Russian Federation, while Pakistan's entry into the grouping was backed by China.

Pakistan, India and Iran were admitted as observers at the 2005 Astana Summit.
