Jeff Bezos Net Worth Hits $100 Billion Mark, Thanks To Black Friday

The Amazon founder is the newest member of the $100 billion club after increasing his fortune by $2.4 billion to $100.3 billion. According to TMZ, thanks to the consumerist extravaganza that is Black Friday, the Amazon CEO's net worth crossed the $100 billion line.

According to Bloomberg, Bezos's fortune jumped $2.4 billion to $100.3 billion early on November 24, following more than a two percent rise in shares on Black Friday.

Online sales for Black Friday are up 18.4% from a year ago, while the projected final spend is $5bn, according to Adobe Analytics.

While 2017 may have been a depressing year for most of us, Bezos is likely to look back on it fondly as his fortune rose a whopping $32.6 billion this year.

The founder of the world's largest e-commerce company made almost Dollars 2.4 billion on Friday alone.

A previous surge in Amazon shares caused the 53-year old to briefly overtake Gates as the world's wealthiest back in July, before further fluctuation caused Bezos' value to slip back down to $89.3bn, behind Gates' estimated $89.9bn.

All eyes are now on Bezos to see what he decides to do with his fortune. Investor Warren Buffett is third at around $78.9 billion. Unlike Gates or Buffet, Bezos has neither pledged his wealth for charity nor has he done too much about it.

He tweeted a request for ideas about how to help people in June of this year, and since 2002 he has given away Amazon shares totalling about $500 million (£374m) at current prices.
