Irfan Dar, Off-duty Kashmiri Officer Killed Like Ummer Fayyaz

A 23-year-old Army officer, who had gone missing last evening, has been killed by suspected terrorists in the Shopian area of South Kashmir.

The body of Irfan Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sezan Keegam, was recovered from an orchard area in Watmullah Keegam area of Shopian.

The bullet-riddled body of Umar Fayaz Parray, a Lieutenant-rank officer hailing from Sarsuna area of Yaripora village in Kulgam district was found at Hermaian village in Shopian district this morning, a police official said. This is the third time this year in which terrorists have killed off-duty Kashmiris working in the army or BSF.

Dar was a serving soldier and was posted in a Territorial Army unit in Bandipora district.

The police has not ruled out the possibility of militants involved in the kidnap and murder. Residents discovered the body and his auto a few kilometers away from his home.

Srinagar: an army jawan was snatched and killed by suspected militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the "brutal killing" of Mir. "Such heinous acts will not weaken our resolve to establish peace and normalcy in the valley". A resident of Sazan village of Shopian, he left his home in his vehicle on Friday evening, minutes after receiving a phone call.

Mehbooba's predecessor and opposition National Conference leader Omar Abdullah termed the incident as tragic and reprehensible. He had come home on leave.

"My unqualified condemnation and heartfelt condolences to his family", he tweeted.
