Ambitious practical results could be achieved as part of Eastern Partnership

BRUSSELS (A.W.)-The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) praised the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Armenia and the European Union (EU) on Friday and said it is up to the Armenian authorities to make best use of the agreement.

The document put special emphasis on bilateral and multilateral projects jointly implemented with the Eastern Partnership countries with the participation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The participants issued a statement at the end where they acknowledged the pro-European ambitions of the associated countries [Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - TASS] and said the initiative was not spearheaded at any third parties. "Meanwhile, we should call for the observance of worldwide law, fight against corruption and so on".

"It is important that the Eastern Partners experience the EU's consistent political and financial support of their reforms, through which the actual approaching of the European Union happens", Mikser said.

He concluded that the 20 key deliverables for 2020 for the Eastern Partnership should continue to act as a guidance to bolster economic development, facilitate connectivity, and promote exchanges and mobility. Leaders discussed and adopted a joint declaration to further strengthen cooperation between the European Union and the six partner countries in four priority areas agreed in Riga, namely stronger economy, governance, connectivity, and society. "We came up with the initiative together with Poland. It is totally obvious that a larger volume of free trade and contacts between countries ensures a higher level of security and confidence", explained the Swedish head of government.
