Windies to tour Pakistan for T20I series in March next year

The two cricket boards signed an agreement to also meet in T20s for the next five years.

The three games are slotted for March 29, 31 and 1st April.

"There were talks to play the series in November, but due to unforeseen weather, we didn't take the risk", Sethi said at a press conference in Lahore as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"There were talks to play the series in November, but due to unforeseen weather, we didn't take a risk so we will start our first series from March next year followed by the one in the U.S.", said Sethi.

"Now we will start everything from March next year".

There is certain news around about a T20 series between Pakistan and West Indies in November.

Pakistan had largely been shunned by global teams for the past eight years due to security concerns following an attack by gunmen on the bus carrying the Sri Lankan team in 2009.

The series held in the United States would be a joint venture whereas the one in Pakistan would exclusively be hosted by the country.

The last worldwide match played at National Stadium was the first Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka during the 2009 series, following which there was an armed attack on the Sri Lankan team bus, the incident that led to Pakistan being shunned by visiting teams.

Sethi also highlighted how the PSL has helped in bringing cricket back home, saying that with the PSL final in Lahore, PCB was able to convince everyone to visit Pakistan and play cricket.

"I wanted to reveal this [agreement] so that it would become clear that the visits to Pakistan by worldwide teams are not one-time affairs, and the five-year contract with West Indies explains our position", he said. "We have made a commitment to try our best to have the final in Karachi", he added. "And if you look at it, a three-nation tournament will attract a lot of interest", Sethi ended.
