Brazilian F1 Grand Prix 2017 Qualifying: Saturday's Results, Times, Final Grid

Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso will fill out the third row of the grid for the start of Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix after leading Formula 1's midfield runners in a dramatic qualifying session at Interlagos.

The four-time world champion, who has a 15-point advantage over Bottas in the battle to finish as runner-up to Hamilton, said: "I'd love to be ahead".

Hamilton, who already wrapped up this year's F1 title, won't start Sunday's race at the front of the pack after he crashed during a qualifying round Saturday, according to the sports organization's website. I'll try to defend as much as I can even though tomorrow we expect a very sunny day and completely dry conditions, so it's not going to be easy to hold on to our position.

Lewis Hamilton says that Formula 1 needs to do more to protect the teams after some of the Mercedes team were robbed at gunpoint while travelling back to their hotel on Friday evening.

Bottas said he felt a responsibility to the team after Hamilton's shock early exit.

Bottas heads into the final two races sitting third in the Drivers' Championship and could still climb up to second ahead of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.

The Brazilian Grand Prix is one which sits fondly in the minds of most due to Autordomo Jose Carlos Pace producing close racing, memorable championship deciding moments and an atmosphere of pure passion.

"I am still a bit shaken, but it is a good feeling". It was just a nice lap. "We have a good vehicle and it's going to be a close race still with Ferrari but I'd rather start from pole than, for example, P3 so I'm looking forward to tomorrow".

Retirement-bound local hero Felipe Massa of Williams was 10th.

"A little bit of rain is always welcome for us".
